Supercell Responds to Months of Feedback With Hero and Progression Fixes
After sustained criticism of the Hero era's progression, Supercell announced player-friendly reversals: selectable Hero unlocks, guaranteed free Hero Fragments, fewer max-level duplicates and a content roadmap.
In February 2026, Supercell published an unusually direct 'Upcoming Changes' post acknowledging months of player feedback about progression, Heroes, rewards and balance since the December 2025 overhaul.
Immediate changes (live February 23) added stronger Lucky Chest safeguards against duplicate max-level cards and moved Hero unlocks forward to Arena 5. From March, Hero unlocks switched from random summons to player choice using Fragments, deck special slots were consolidated from four to three, 75 guaranteed Hero Fragments were added to every Free Pass season, and all existing players received 200 free Hero Fragments.
The post also sketched a roadmap: a new Evolution in April, then a rotating monthly content cycle from June alternating Heroes, Evolutions and new cards, plus further 5-Star Lucky Chest improvements.
The announcement was widely read as a course correction after the winter's backlash, and most of its promises shipped in the March and April updates.
